Recently, I threw a baby shower for a dear friend and wanted to add something special to her party decorations. The theme for her shower was Two Peas in a Pod, she is having twins, so I wanted to make a vase that was inexpensive, but was unique and stayed within the theme. This is where these vases came into play. For just $4.16 you can have a great vase to go with your style.

If you are throwing a party, you can actually make multiply vases for each table and still stay under $10, but stretching your paint to last for all your vases. I actually made six of these vases for the shower and still only paid $9.16 for these special decorations.

YOU WILL NEED

Purchased:
  • Glass cylinder vase – $1 each at Dollar Tree
  • Four to five shades of green and white acrylic paint – $0.79 each at Meijer

Items I Already Had Around the House:
  • Four to five wooden pencils
  • Paper plate

DIRECTIONS
  1. Clean your vase and remove all tags from the glass.

  2. Pour a little of each color paint onto a paper plate.

  3. Use the eraser side of your pencil and dip it into the paint. Randomly place dots on the outside of your vase. Add dots just up two to three inches from the bottom of your vase.

  4. Use your second pencil eraser and place it into another paint color. Randomly place dots on the outside of the vase, making sure not to let them touch the other wet paint dots. Continue this process for the other colors.

  5. Once the dots are dry, go back through and add more dots with the various colors. Continuing filling in the spaces until you are happy with the amount of dots you have on the bottom of your vase.

  6. Let this vase dry completely, about one to two hours and then it is ready to use. Add some flowers and enjoy!
